How to choose a color combination for a room

Start with one base shade, such as a wall, furniture or textile color. The tool builds a companion palette around the selected HEX so you can quickly compare nearby shades and save a favorite.

What the tool considers

  • Set the base color using a HEX code, the system color picker or hue, saturation and lightness sliders.
  • The companion palette recalculates from the selected shade; any color in it can become the new base with one click.
  • For decorating, use the digital palette as a direction; then check the selected HEX in Color Lab and find the closest paint shades in the database.

Digital combinations help define a palette direction, but paint color in a room changes with lighting, texture and sheen. Before buying, compare physical samples and make test patches in the actual room.
