Bathroom surfaces face steam, changing humidity, and regular cleaning. Some modern bathroom-specific paints even allow a matte finish, but that is a property of the specific formula, not of every matte paint.
Wall condition matters more than the marketing name
Before painting, remove peeling areas, dirt, and mold according to the safe instructions for an appropriate treatment product. The substrate must be clean and completely dry before coating.
Ventilation affects finish durability
Even moisture-resistant paint cannot replace proper ventilation. If walls stay wet after showering, address ventilation and condensation sources first.
